Russia. The V International Conference of Young Scientists and Specialists, "Innovations in Geology and Geophysics of the Arctic, the Antarctic, and the World Ocean"
Gramberg's VNIIOkeangeologia FSBI welcomes young scientists to take part in the V International Conference of Young Scientists and Specialists, "Innovations in Geology and Geophysics of the Arctic, the Antarctic, and the World Ocean", held in honor of the 100th anniversary of V.N. Sokolov. The conference has been held at VNIIO since 1999.
Valentin N. Sokolov was one of the foremost members of the outstanding pleiad of Arctic geologists who were leaders of science and industry. Valentin Sokolov joined the Scientific Research Institute of Arctic Geology in 1949 and served there for almost 30 years until his untimely death in 1978. He entered the cohort of leading national researchers who studied the oil and gas potential of the Barents-Kara region and the Svalbard. A mountain (Valentine), in central Oscar II Land in the Svalbard archipelago, has been named in his honor by the Norwegian Polar Institute at the proposal of the Scientific Research Institute of Arctic Geology.
The main objective and subject of the Conference is to introduce new research results achieved by young scientists and specialists in the field of geology, geophysics, geochemistry, geomorphology, geotectonics, metallogeny, and geoecology of the polar regions of Earth and the World Ocean, as well as the processing of geographic information using GIS and special software.
The Conference will feature oral presentations only. The presentations will last 15 minutes each, and 5 minutes will be given for discussion.
Russian and English are the official languages of the conference.
The authors of the best presentations will be awarded Conference Diplomas and worthy prizes. The best papers will be published in the journals included in the list of the State Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles, following the recommendation of the Scientific Committee of the conference. Abstracts will be published in electronic form.
